Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Services Centre

Service Hours:
Monday to Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Sunday & Public Holidays – closed

Service Objectives  

  • To provide people with disabilities with one-stop integrated and seamless vocational rehabilitation services specially designed to accommodate the limitations arising from their disabilities, in which they can be provided with work training, develop their social and work potential and be prepared for entering the open employment market.

Target Group 

  • People with mental disabilities or ex-psychiatric illness who are aged 15 or above in need of vocational training or support to take up open employment

Scopes of Service  

  • Vocational assessment and job skills training programme: professional assessment is conducted to design the employment plan based on the service users’ need, ability and desire. Appropriate training can then be arranged.

  • Training on vocational skills: provide centre-based training such as simple processing, assembling and packaging, handicrafts and so on; outdoor work training such as car-washing, office cleaning, handing out leaflets, delivery services and so on; job placement is arranged at the work units so as to gain hands-on industry-related experience.

  • Job finding and matching: job matching and follow-through support are provided. Suitable candidates are referred to employers according to the ability and job interest of the service users.

  • On the job and other training: job attachment, job trial and post-placement services are provided. Other services include re-training and other vocational training. Training on vocational skills with subsidy is provided.

  • Support service: counselling and post-withdrawal support services are provided; recreational activities, social skill group, training on social life skills, self-confidence enhancement activities, vocational safety talk, job seeking skill workshop, mutual-help group, integration programmes are organised; family life education activities and support are provided with an aim to strengthen the carers’ understanding towards people with disabilities.

Fees

  • Free of charge.

  • Fees may be charged depending on individual activities.

Application Procedures

  • Sheltered Workshop Service: apply through social workers referring to the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services of the Social Welfare Department.

  • Supported Employment Service: apply directly to the centre.

  Withdrawal Procedures

  • Apply to the centre.

  • Disabled members who have been employed in the open market for 6 months, part-time employment (working less than 44 hours per week) with a monthly salary of HK$1,500 or above, full-time employment (working for 44 hours or more per week) with a monthly salary of HK$3,000 or above, and do not need any intensive support from the centre can apply for withdrawal from the service, but can still receive the After Care Service.
