Service Objectives
To provide temporary accommodation for the needy and to assist lodgers in adapting to the hostel life;
To encourage lodgers to better use their spare time and face their life in a positive way;
To promote mutual support among lodgers and to build a social network with harmony.
Target Group and Scopes of Service
Target Group
Urban Hostel for Single Persons is a form of short term accommodation for needy people, or street sleepers waiting for long-term accommodation or people living in partitioned flats, bedspace apartment lodgers and homeless people.
Applicants must have self-care ability.
Scopes of Service
24-hour accommodation service (216 places for male and 54 places for female);
Assist lodgers in adapting to the hostel life and solving their problems;
Group activities and gathering to build friendship and mutual support among the lodgers so that they can have more opportunities to explore their potential.
Facilities and Fees
Facilities
Independent room space: about 80 square feet, bed frame and bed board, iron locker, three-storey plastic cabinet, hanging rack, bedside lamp and fan. (Remarks: Bring your own bedding.)
Common room: 1 common room on each floor, providing TV entertainment.
Kitchen: Two shared kitchens on each floor. Zinc pans and hot water are provided. There are lockable kitchen cabinets for borrowing.
Toilets and bathrooms: Two shared toilets and bathrooms on each floor with hot and cold water supply.
Fees
The monthly rental is HK$1,320, $1,650 and $1,980 based on bed location.

Rental, deposit of 1 month rental, key deposit of $200, and cleaning fee deposit of $700 must be paid upon check in.
A total of $150 is charged monthly for water, electricity and gas.
Application Procedures and Withdrawal Procedures
Application qualifications, documents and instructions
Applicants living alone in cage hostel must provide a rental receipt of a flat less than 5.5 square metres (about 60 square feet) or a bedspace in the past six months and receive a monthly salary not exceeding HK$$13,090 for application by themselves; or they can contact a social worker for referral and application.
Applicants can be referred by government departments, the Social Welfare Department, hospitals, non-government organisations, local groups and social workers.

Withdrawal Procedures
Lodgers must give a notice to the hostel officer verbally or in writing 7 days prior to moving out.
